Here, you will discover Classic Stop Motion Animation of the past (mostly mainstream USA released films). I have not had a chance to search or list others that are probably circulating out there. You will find this to be a rich cinematic history of the Stop Motion technique used for entertainment using fantasy or surreal images, story telling, and has been used for TV commercials, educational media, and other applications. Currently, the "flavor of the month" technique that mainstream studios/producers now prefer, is the mass production of Computer Generated Imagery for digital animation and special effects. In my opinion, this is literally shutting-out other visual styles that the general public will not usually see .... resulting in maybe a homogenization of Film & TV media entertainment. I think Stop Motion can still be viable but it does not seem to fit the current hyper-rushed state of extremely short production schedules (studios want it faster & faster) .... quantity over quality, I suppose. Perhaps there will be a renaissance or resurgence of Stop Motion (in the past, it has made comebacks), maybe not in the USA but from some other country or some small independent productions. I have some hope ..... just enter "Stop Motion" in any online search engine and you will get many listings, so there still must be some interest and desire from the public for Stop Motion ! This section mostly lists VHS videos (the NTSC broadcast format). Not all the movies here are available on DVD's. Just click on the video images-link and you will be taken to Amazon, Barnes & Noble or another website and you can search there to see about DVD availability (or if you can get PAL format). Without notice, some videos go out-of-stock and will not be available .... so my advice is .... do not procrastinate and get it NOW for your collection or reference library ! |
